Contacts during the Year

Do you know your rights within health and social services? Do you know how to change your GP or how to access your medical records? If not the NHSSC can help. We provide all kinds of advice on health and social services. The past year saw a record 1564 contacts, an increase of 244 on the previous year. To break this down, 492 enquiries were dealt with, assistance was provided with making 183 complaints and 889 hits were recorded to our website www.nhssc.org

It is evident from some enquiries that there remains confusion. The NHSSC deals solely with health and social services issues not social security issues such as benefits. Anyone with a benefit related query should contact their local Social Security Office. Visit www.ssani.gov.uk for an A-Z list of offices.

Those people wanting to change an aspect of health and social services for the better or who want to ensure no one else experiences what they have been through should consider the HPSS Complaints Procedure. Jacqueline McNeill, Information/Complaints Officer is on hand to help people through the process. The 3 most common areas for complaint last year were treatment and care, staff attitude and waiting lists.
